On 6 June 2023, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Sourcing Day event - Business Meeting of Czech Manufacturers and Suppliers for the Nuclear Energy Sector to Spain 2023 was held. The Spanish Nuclear Energy Association Foro Nuclear directly supports this business forum. This association has existed since 1962 and integrates more than 55 companies and institutions, defending the continuity of nuclear power plants and promoting the nuclear sector.

The Sourcing Day Forum is a very effective way to make contacts, network, and present companies in a well-targeted manner. The follow-up B2B meetings were beneficial, where companies could discuss potential in-person collaborations with pre-selected Spanish representatives during 15-minute slots. These companies ranged from engineering to manufacturing and installing pressure apparatus for nuclear power plants to decontamination and radioactive waste treatment.

Some of our Spanish counterparts supply the same customers as our companies. For example, they are currently participating with Empresarios Agrupados in the same project in France as Chemcomex. So, in this case, there were also specific current projects and possibilities for further cooperation.

"I think that little is known about the strength of the Spanish nuclear industry. Yet the Spanish have seven reactors in operation, covering over 22% of Spain's electricity consumption. It was also interesting to see the comparison in the context of the world, where nuclear energy represents 10% of the electricity produced by 422 reactors in 33 countries. A further 57 reactors in 17 countries are under construction, and Spanish companies are involved in maintenance and construction in 40 countries. In terms of vision and plans, Spain is aware that in the future, it will have an advantage over the Czech Republic in that it has an incomparably greater potential in the use of solar and wind energy. In our country, on the other hand, they expect a boom in the nuclear sector, which is what we at CE INDUSTRIES' energy division hope for." says Michal Balko, Sales Director of Chemcomex and an active participant in the event.

It was an honor to meet and establish contacts with the following companies: the Radioactive Waste Repository Administration, ABO valve, BAEST Machines & Structures, a.s., Huisman, KIP Brno, KRÁLOVOPOLSKÁ, a.s, Meva a.s. Roudnice nad Labem, EMPRESARIOS AGRUPADOS - GHESA, Equipos Nucleares S.A., S.M.E., (ENSA), ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas, S.A., S.M.E., Konecranes, Newtesol, Nusim S.A. and Tecnatom.
