CE FMCG is acquiring FRUTA Podivín, a.s.

On Thursday 15 February, CE FMCG a.s. signed an agreement with the food group Orkla Foods Czech Republic and Slovakia to acquire FRUTA Podivín, a.s. The transaction must now be reviewed by the Office for the Protection of Competition before it can be finalised. The transaction price is not public.

CE FMCG a.s. is part of the CE Industries group, owned by Czech entrepreneur Jaroslav Strnad. The group’s strategy includes growth in the FMCG and food sectors, where it already owns companies such as Kaumy and Kávoviny. The aim is to maintain existing production and employment at FRUTA Podivín whilst ensuring long-term development.

Martin Frýdl, spokesperson for Orkla Foods, stated that the sale allows the company to focus on its key brands: Vitana, Májka, Hamé and Simply Fresh. The transaction includes the Hamánek, Cvrček and Fruta brands. All employees’ employment contracts remain unchanged.

CE Industries operates in European markets in rail transport, raw materials recycling, energy and the FMCG sector. In 2022, it achieved a turnover of CZK 10 billion. Orkla Foods is the second-largest producer of packaged food in the Czech Republic and the fifth-largest in Slovakia.
