Thanks to toll manufacturing, VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY TRADE has succeeded in reviving a nearly 70-year-old tradition of tube production at LIBERTY Ostrava. These are carbon steel pipes used worldwide, particularly for oil extraction, fluid distribution and the construction industry.
VMT, part of the CE Industries group, is continuing to restore production at LIBERTY Ostrava’s tube mill and flat products rolling mill through a tolling project. Production is carried out by 1,350 employees, of whom approximately 700 work at the tube mill.
The tolling model has enabled the resumption of production of seamless pipes on Stiefel-type lines and spiral-welded pipes in the welding shop. Carbon steel pipes are used in the energy industry, construction, oil extraction and other sectors.
VMT Director Tomáš Mischinger emphasises the preservation of traditional production: “Our aim was to preserve the long tradition of production” – orders come from more than 30 countries.
Production includes seamless smooth, threaded and oilfield pipes, which have borne the API monogram since 1957. The plant also manufactures spiral-welded pipes for the construction and gas industries.
