VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY TRADE, in collaboration with LIBERTY Ostrava, is reviving the traditional production of Czech crash barriers

Thanks to a tolling arrangement with VMT, LIBERTY Ostrava has successfully revived its more than 50-year-old tradition of manufacturing crash barriers. These barriers feature a highly durable design capable of stopping even a fully laden 16-tonne lorry, thereby ensuring greater safety on Czech roads.

VMT, part of the CE Industries group, has been financing production at LIBERTY Ostrava through a tolling project since August. Thanks to this collaboration, it has been possible to preserve commercially viable and promising parts of the steelworks within a short period of time.

A successful example of an H3-rated crash barrier is the OSNH4/H3, which, thanks to its highly durable construction, has already proven capable on several occasions of stopping fully loaded lorries with a total weight of over 16 tonnes within the relevant lane.

“Production resumed at the beginning of October and we currently have orders through to the end of the year, with a good outlook for the coming months as well,” said VMT Director Tomáš Mischinger.

A total of 33 separate safety barrier systems are manufactured at LIBERTY Ostrava. The Ostrava safety barriers undergo rigorous certification and real-world crash tests and are certified in accordance with the ČSN EN 1317 standard.
